How do you have your Pie and Mash?

Mrs Bell is making me pie and mash tonight.
She showed me a recipe she found on line that's got mushrooms in the pie. I have never known a pie for proper pie and mash to have mushrooms in it.
Also, the liquor, water or milk?
What do you reckon?

I love pie, mash and liquor. So did my old man god rest his soul, but he used to have gravy instead of liquor.....yuk!

Without getting all Micky Flanagan, it depends if it's 'Pie 'n' Mash' as in Jellied eels, 'Cor Blimey it's a right two and eight and no mistake Guv' or just Pie and Mash from a pub menu, Tesco or Sainsburys.
If the former then mushrooms are obscene but if it's a chicken and mushroom then why not? Ditto Liquor. A must for the former but disgusting for the latter. As Mrs B is MAKING it then I'd suggest it is NOT Cockney Pie 'n' Mash but just a pie with mashed potatoes so she can put in what she likes.

Spoon and a folk, a very well cooked rectangular pie, wholesome mash, plenty of pepper & vinegar and lashings of actual eel sauce that is not passed off with parsley
